Grass SA was established in 2012 by a group of pasture/animal scientists and specialists in Southern Africa. It was driven by the need to link scientific methodology and understanding with practical implementation and solutions for an often complex agricultural field of practice.

Grass SA was established in 2012 by a group of pasture/animal scientists and specialists in Southern Africa.  It was driven by the need to link scientific methodology and understanding with practical implementation and solutions for an often complex agricultural field of practice.

Grass SA specialists are qualified, experienced and respected professionals in South Africa and abroad.  They are trained in various aspects related to veld and pasture management.  Fields of expertise range from pasture establishment, grazing management, fodder flow planning, research, monitoring and assessments for the animal (dairy, beer, sheep, horse, wildlife) production industry, grazing loss assessments, grazing systems planning, information day presentations and training courses.

Grass SA's vision and mission is to continually improve the knowledge base of the interrelationships of natural veld, cultivated pastures and forages with soils, water, livestock, wildlife and other environmental elements in a socially acceptable economically and environmentally sustainable way.

Grass SA aims to educate, support and financially strengthen whoever requires knowledge and support in the science and management of natural veld, cultivated pastures and all forages for livestock and wildlife production, in addition to land reclamation strategies including conservation agriculture.

Grass SA has strategic partnerships with many national and international professional bodies and societies that support the growth and development of agriculture in Southern Africa.  With these partnerships Grass SA aims to provide clients access to a multi-disciplinary platform of specialists and services relating to the listed fields of expertise.  These services play an imperative role in the growth and development of the livestock and wildlife industry.  Grass SA also aims to generate and disseminate new knowledge through research and therefor conduct commercial research programmes at its research station in Mpumalanga in conjunction with regional field research sites countrywide.
